Marco Dionigi new UMM A&R and the hunt for success opens

“Asian Thruth” is the EP marking the debut of Marco Dionigi with UMM label (Media Records) in the house scene, nu disco and i progressive. With tracks like “When The Sun Go Down” and “Moving Around”, the Italian DJ, between dub and afro electronics, takes us back to the maze of nights spent in amazing clubs like Mazoom and Alter Ego. Dionigi has covered the A&R role with Quantistic Division. But, he says, of course, today, speaking of UMM. “This is a label that has made the history of house music, but things do change. It will certainly be an extremely positive new adventure and above all no worries: just a great excitement to start”.
So kind genre will UMM focus on?
“Old fans need to understand one thing: UMM has changed its image, it has changed its journey. After all, I was called to make a radical change. The nu disco will be the predominant music with any kind of music contamination, from new age to house, to electronic, to ethnic passing through deep and cosmic. This is the new trend that is emerging especially abroad. Musically we will go back to be propelled back into the future. Weird, isn’t it?”.

How did you get to work with Bortolotti, Media Records and UMM?
“GFB called me because he wanted to give UMM a new identity. Like me, he doesn’t like to look at the past: he is a visionary a bit like me, and he was very impressed by the nu disco and electro productions; he asked me to lead the label and build a new music reality on it. Let’s be clear, he’s so nice and I couldn’t say no”.
What are the responsibilities for you as UMM A&R?
“I will take care of all the output, and of course the music. It will have to have all a logical thread. I do not believe in all-encompassing labels: you just end up being hurt. We will try to do one thing and we will try to do it well”.
What are you going to focus on?
“I will leverage on all I have. I will invest on artists I know and who are very good at producing music and of course I will also expect a lot of demos to listen to, both Italian and foreign. I will obviously try many productions made by me, after all I’m a DJ and producer. There will be EPs, albums, in short, lots of quality music”.
What are the next releases? What’s in the pipeline for UMM?
“There are already two products ready for release and four more in the queue. But first we have to do the rest of the work and smooth the corners, and when we are ready, and it will take very little, we will have our launch”.
What’s the difference between the new and the old UMM?
“It will maintain its position, i.e. making avant-garde music and pure clubbing sound. We will look forward and not back. We will explore and experiment a lot, through music. We have to take an example from the past, to be able to go back to creating interesting and intelligent things to pass the test of time. The ‘80s and early ‘90s were so full of emotion. I will offer quality. It will be up to the public to follow the present and give up the past”.

Tarantula Music is born: the sound from the… bassement

From the Media Records Evo world a brand new label focused on the bass music: a 24/7 open lab

A Media Records Evo CEO Gianfranco Bortolotti explains the Tarantula Music birth and goals. Tarantula Music is a brand new label with the main target of the drum & bass movement and subgenres. “To keep a track of Media Records Evo’s positioning strategy in all segments of underground dance, we need a useful trademark for careful and disciplined search for new emerging trends across all the globe”.
Bite and poison are really effective in hitting the nerve of our body. Tarantula Music comes to spread the fever of bass music by listening to an endless and hypnotic dance music and born from the experience and selection of Media Records Evo stargate: Firstplanet.
The choice fell on Stefano Bosetti aka StefanoB, ’cause Gianfranco Bortolotti believes that he’s the best guy for spreading this sound. “It is the right man to hookup all such producers and also the most experienced promoter and festival organizer of the bass music scene”.
Many hip-hop and rap rap songs rule in bass music galaxy: the roots of most beatmakers are the same today: Tarantula Music will collaborate with Italo Music, a domestic branch of Media Records Evo. “The collaboration between A&R and producers of the various World of Media labels is a competitive advantage of our organization since the 1990s”.

StefanoB says, “I’m a dj, I started mixing in the late eighties when I was still a teenager: getting in touch with Media Records was something quite unique”. And today the dream is realized. “Tarantula Music is an idea born in 2015 and sees light only now. In Italy and in the rest of the world there are many real-world bass music, from jungle to drum & bass, but are often crumpled, unbolted. We need a new space to operate and promote different artists, both local and international”.
We will all soon “tarantulated”. “The thread leading dance to the origins of dance is the gathering, spasm and tribal rituals. The future of electronic music has so many pages to write and we will release with digital release and then maybe on vinyl so as to satisfy even the needs of maniac collectors. My task will be difficult: I listen on average over 150 promos a week and I will have no problems selecting the incoming proposals”.

StefanoB is a dj, producer and radio speaker in Brescia, Italy. He began mixing at the end of the eighties with acid house and techno trax going from funk and coming to evolve in the breakbeat scene that will give rise to jungle, drum & bass and finally the bass music. StefanoB has brought passion and expertise to the national movement and is also radio speaker for Radio Onda D’Urto (Brescia, Italy) and Future Sounds Radio (Bristol, UK). In addition to having experience in organizing various music events, he is also part of the Cockroach International Production’s cultural music association.
